Driver intentionally rams motorcycle while transporting kids to sleepover in Chandler, records reveal.

CHANDLER, Ariz. — A Chandler driver was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly causing the death of a motorcyclist in a road rage incident.

Authorities identified the victim as 21-year-old Dezjon Hamilton, who was struck near the intersection of Alma School and Ray roads.

Court records indicate that 29-year-old Gustavo Elias was taken into custody after the collision. Witnesses reported that Elias’s vehicle abruptly turned right, hitting Hamilton’s motorcycle.

During questioning, Elias reportedly stated he had consumed 12 beers prior to driving his stepson and a friend. He claimed to have felt “taunted” by Hamilton, whom he recognized from their apartment complex.

According to Elias, while stopped at a red light, he became enraged and accelerated into the motorcyclist. Records show juvenile passengers corroborated a confrontation before the crash.

Elias is currently booked at the Maricopa County Jail. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
