JUDICE, La. (Local News Wire) — A motorcyclist was killed in a collision involving a pickup truck in Lafayette Parish on March 13 at approximately 1:30 p.m.
The victim, identified as 21-year-old Gavin Recktenwald from Duson, was riding a 2019 Kawasaki motorcycle on Duhon Road near Lagneaux Road when the crash occurred. According to Louisiana State Police, the driver of a 2023 Toyota Tacoma turned left without yielding, resulting in the collision.
Troopers reported that Recktenwald was thrown from his motorcycle and, despite wearing a helmet, sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated that standard blood samples were collected for analysis, and no charges have been filed at this time.
Duhon Road was closed for several hours following the incident as an investigation was initiated. The investigation remains ongoing.
