UNION COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — A motorcycle crash on State Route 33 claimed the life of Claiborne County Mayor Joseph Brooks on Friday, July 24.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:05 p.m. as Brooks, 56, was traveling northbound on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle near the Claiborne County line. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, he lost control while navigating a curve, veered off the road, and struck the guardrail before coming to a stop in the outside lane.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Emergency medical services responded to the scene, but Brooks did not survive the incident. Authorities have not released details regarding potential factors contributing to the crash, and an investigation is ongoing.
