A motorcycle crash on the Route 8 south Exit 40 off-ramp in Thomaston claimed the life of John Kastanaras, 56, on Monday morning.
According to Connecticut State Police, Kastanaras lost control of his Harley-Davidson and collided with a metal guardrail.
Thomaston Emergency Medical Services transported Kastanaras to Waterbury Hospital after a LifeStar medical helicopter was initially requested, authorities said.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner reported that Kastanaras died from blunt impact injuries to the head, neck, and torso, ruling the incident an accident.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
