Eight Dead, Seven Injured in Arkansas Traffic Incidents Over Weekend
Several traffic incidents across Arkansas resulted in eight fatalities and seven injuries from Thursday to Saturday, according to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.
On Thursday, two motorists were killed in separate crashes. At 7:58 a.m., Lilibeth Martinez, 28, of Rogers, died in a head-on collision involving her 2008 Nissan Maxima and a Chevy Silverado driven by Ramon Esparza-Flores, 60, in Rogers. The crash occurred at the intersection of South 28th Street and South Fitzroy Place.
Later that day, at 3:30 p.m., Wendy White, 35, of Russellville, was killed in a three-car pileup on Interstate 40 in Conway. She was a passenger in a GMC Sierra driven by Brady Crigger, 39, who, along with Heather Turner, 40, sustained injuries during the incident.
On Friday, three fatalities were reported from two separate wrecks. Two unidentified victims—a man and a woman—were killed in a three-car accident on U.S. 63 in Sedgwick at 2:32 p.m. A Dodge Ram lost cargo, causing a collision with a Ford F59 and a GMC truck. Blaine Blasko, 25, of Paragould, and Keyasha Wheeler, 24, of Searcy, were injured in the accident.
Also on Friday, a single-vehicle crash claimed the life of 22-year-old Dodge Harris in Mountain Home at 8:56 p.m. Investigators reported he was ejected after his vehicle rolled over on U.S. 62.
On Saturday, three more fatalities occurred. Anthony David Carrillo, 56, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Arkansas 7 in Jasper at 10:45 a.m. In Blytheville at 1:10 p.m., Thomas Remillard, 61, was struck by a vehicle driven by Joshua Hill on Interstate 55. Additionally, a crash involving a bicycle in Desha County led to the death of Mack McCurry, 65.
Clear weather and dry roads were noted in all incidents, with investigations ongoing.
