Fairmount Man Killed in Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Highway 411.

A fatal motorcycle crash occurred on GA 61 (U.S. 411) in Gordon County at approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).

Authorities reported that a 56-year-old man, identified as Scotty Cantrell of Fairmount, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound when he failed to maintain his lane on a right-hand curve. The motorcycle crossed the double-yellow line and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.

The impact caused the motorcycle to catch fire, and Cantrell suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Emergency responders from multiple agencies, including the GSP and Department of Public Safety’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, were on site. The tractor-trailer was inspected as part of the investigation.

Highway 411 was closed for approximately two hours during the incident response and cleanup. The Gordon County Coroner’s Office is working with Cantrell’s family during this time.
