ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A hit-and-run motorcycle crash on Sunday evening claimed the life of 31-year-old Christian “CJ” Islas-Stauffer at Arlington Drive and West Northern Lights Boulevard.
According to the Anchorage Police Department (APD), the collision occurred at approximately 7:58 p.m. A white GMC pickup truck left the scene after the incident. Islas-Stauffer was found unresponsive and later died at a nearby hospital.
APD confirmed the pickup truck was located on the day of the crash. Investigators believe Islas-Stauffer’s motorcycle struck the truck.
No charges have been filed as the investigation remains ongoing, according to APD. The family of Islas-Stauffer expressed frustration over their delayed notification of the incident.
Rachel Stauffer, the victim’s mother, shared her anguish, stating, “Someone needs to be held accountable. It’s not fair.” Authorities emphasized that information releases depend on verification and approval processes.
Islas-Stauffer was riding home after spending time with family. Rachel Stauffer described her son as helpful and sociable, noting his recent passion for motorcycling.
APD urges anyone with information regarding the crash to contact police at 311 or utilize Crime Stoppers for anonymous tips.
