Motorcyclist Killed in Omaha DUI Crash Identified
OMAHA, Neb. — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash early Thursday at 144th and Corby streets, according to the Omaha Police Department.

Ryan Hay, a 39-year-old husband and father of three, was riding his motorcycle around 12:30 a.m. when he collided with another vehicle driven by 31-year-old Bailey Burr, who was arrested for DUI. Burr faces multiple charges, including DUI with a blood alcohol content of at least .15 and motor vehicle homicide.

Hay was a well-known figure in the motorcycle community, co-founding Omaha Bike Week, which is scheduled for July 17-25. Event organizers confirmed that the event will proceed as planned in Hay’s honor.

Emergency response teams arrived on the scene, and the police stated that Burr had an open container in the vehicle. Initial investigations indicate that speed and impairment could be factors in the crash.

Authorities noted that the roadway was briefly closed for the investigation, but has since reopened. No additional injuries have been reported.

Community members expressed their grief and commitment to celebrating Hay’s legacy during the upcoming bike week.
