Albuquerque – A motorcycle crash on Zuni Road SE resulted in one fatality on Tuesday night.
At approximately 8:50 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck at the intersection of Zuni Road SE and San Pablo Street SE. Albuquerque Fire Rescue was also dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found an adult male motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as the motorcycle rider.
According to APD civilian Public Information Officer Gilbert Gallegos, the pickup truck driver remained at the scene following the accident. Initial reports indicated that a red 1995 Toyota pickup was traveling west on Zuni Road before turning left onto San Pablo Street when the collision occurred. A red 2013 BMW motorcycle, traveling east on Zuni, struck the passenger side of the truck.
APD’s Fatal Crash Unit is investigating the incident. Authorities believe the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash.
Road closures are in effect, with Zuni Road blocked between Charleston Street and Chama Street. San Pablo Street is not accessible from Zuni Road, and Grove Street is closed between Zuni Road SE and Bell. These closures may change as the investigation continues.
