Two people were involved in a fatal crash on Highway 50 near MO-BB in Union, Missouri, on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the incident occurred at approximately 2:07 p.m. A 2018 Nissan Altima, driven by a 55-year-old man, was traveling westbound when he attempted to pass multiple vehicles in the eastbound lane.
An oncoming 2023 Nissan Maxima, operated by a 48-year-old woman, collided head-on with the Altima while trying to evade the vehicle. The Maxima driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
The male driver of the Altima was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS at 2:18 p.m. MSHP confirmed that the woman was wearing a seatbelt, but the man was not.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
