Albuquerque – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Westside Blvd and 7 Bar Loop Rd NW on Wednesday, May 13, at 7:30 PM.
According to the Albuquerque Police Department, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on 7 Bar Loop Rd when they failed to stop at a stop sign, crossed Westside Blvd, struck a curb, and collided with a retaining wall. The rider suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that the motorcyclist appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. Authorities stated that speed and failure to stop are believed to have contributed to the incident. No other vehicles were involved, and the investigation is ongoing.
Earlier the same day, APD responded to another motorcycle fatality at approximately 1 PM at the intersection of Menaul Blvd and Richmond Dr NE. Other incidents included a pedestrian fatality at 5 AM and an e-scooter collision at 9:50 PM on May 12.
According to APD Public Information Officer Gilbert Gallegos, the department’s Fatal Crash Team was deployed four times within a 22-hour period due to these incidents.
