MADRAS, Ore. – A motorcycle accident resulted in the death of a 36-year-old man on Highway 26 south of Madras on Thursday morning.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 26 and SW Dover Lane, according to the Oregon State Police (OSP). A southbound Dodge Ram pickup, towing a trailer, was attempting to make a left turn onto Dover Lane when the motorcyclist, riding a Harley Davidson, attempted to pass on the left. The motorcycle collided with the trailer as the truck turned.
The rider, identified as Scott Anthony Pradmore of Madras, died at the scene. The pickup driver, a 22-year-old man from Bend, sustained no injuries.
OSP indicated that the primary cause of the crash was the unsafe passing maneuver. Authorities had the highway closed for about two hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
