Fatal motorcycle accident disrupts traffic on New Jersey Turnpike and George Washington Bridge.

LEONIA, New Jersey — A motorcycle driver was killed in a crash early Friday morning on the New Jersey Turnpike, causing significant traffic disruptions.

The accident occurred around 2 a.m. in the southbound local lanes of the Turnpike (I-95) in Leonia. Authorities reported that the victim, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, veered into the right guardrail and was ejected from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene and was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

As a result of the crash, all lanes on the Turnpike were closed for nearly five hours, leading to approximately an hour-long delay on the George Washington Bridge for vehicles heading into New Jersey. Northbound traffic on the Turnpike was also affected due to increased volume and rubbernecking.

New Jersey State Police are continuing to investigate the crash and are working to confirm the victim’s identity.
