A fatal motorcycle crash occurred at approximately 10:48 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, on SR-101 in Blacksmith Fork Canyon.
According to authorities, a black 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling westbound when the rider failed to navigate a right curve near milepost 10. The motorcycle left the roadway, approximately 12 feet above the river, and came to rest in the water after landing in brush on the opposite side of the river. The 19-year-old male driver from Preston, ID, identified as Teagan B. Swanepoel, was wearing a helmet but sustained fatal injuries.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and an investigation into potential speed as a factor in the crash is ongoing. The roadway was not closed during the response.
