Motorcycle Accident Claims Life in Frankford
FRANKFORD, Del. – A motorcycle accident resulted in a fatality on Camp Barnes Road on Thursday, Sept. 18, at approximately 4:15 p.m.
According to Delaware State Police, a 22-year-old rider from Millville, identified as Michael Peterson, was operating a Yamaha YZF motorcycle southbound when he attempted to pass two mini-motorcycles. Investigators reported that Peterson crossed a double yellow line and lost control, veering off the road and striking a traffic sign.
Authorities confirmed Peterson was wearing a full-face helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Camp Barnes Road was closed for about 2.5 hours as emergency responders cleared the site and conducted an investigation. The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the incident.
