MEADOW LAKES, Alaska (KTUU/Gray News) – Timothy Hoffman, 58, was killed Sunday during a memorial motorcycle ride for his late daughter, Cynthia Hoffman, on the Parks Highway.
According to Alaska State Troopers, Hoffman lost control of his motorcycle around 1:30 p.m. near mile 49, rolling into the center median. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, while his passenger, his wife Jeannie, was.
Both were found unresponsive and were taken to a local hospital. Timothy Hoffman was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, while Jeannie Hoffman remains in critical condition.
The ride began in Anchorage and included a stop at the Victims for Justice Memorial, where Cynthia’s name is inscribed. Witnesses reported the group made one final stop before the accident occurred approximately two miles from their destination.
The Parks Highway was closed for approximately two-and-a-half hours as authorities conducted an investigation and diverted traffic to an adjacent frontage road. The crash investigation is ongoing.
Cynthia Hoffman, 19, was murdered in June 2019. Four individuals were convicted in her death, with two receiving 99-year sentences. A crowdfunding account has been established at Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union to assist Hoffman’s family with medical and household expenses.
