Father of slain motorcyclist addresses charges against drunken driver held on $250K bail.

WAREHAM, Mass. — A fatal motorcycle crash on Friday claimed the life of 25-year-old Jordan Hansen, according to authorities.

The collision occurred at approximately 5:05 p.m. at the intersection of Cranberry Highway and Monteiro Street. Hansen was riding his motorcycle when he was struck by a Toyota driven by 67-year-old Raymond Cardoza, who reportedly fled the scene.

Cardoza, a repeat offender with a suspended license, was later arrested nearby and is charged with driving under the influence manslaughter, driving under the influence—4th offense, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury or death, and driving with a suspended license, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said.

Hansen was initially taken to Tobey Hospital and later transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Emergency responders found him on the ground with life-threatening injuries.

Cardoza is being held on $250,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty in Wareham District Court. A judge set conditions for bail that require GPS monitoring and the use of a SCRAM device if released.

Witness reports indicated that Cardoza had consumed alcohol prior to the crash. He was found with signs of intoxication, including a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, during police interviews.

The investigation is ongoing, and Cardoza is scheduled to appear in court again on August 27.
