Providence Man Charged After Motorcycle Crash on Atwells Avenue
PROVIDENCE, RI — Robert Maggiacomo, 35, of Cumberland, was charged with two felonies connected to a motorcycle crash on Atwells Avenue during the Feast of St. Joseph on June 6, 2026.
Authorities said Maggiacomo allegedly threw a trash can at a moving motorcycle, operated by 19-year-old Michael Carnevale of Johnston, causing the rider to lose control and crash. No serious injuries were reported.
“Our top priority is the safety of everyone attending community events in Providence,” Police Chief Oscar Perez stated. He praised detectives for their thorough investigation, which involved multiple witness interviews, recorded statements, and surveillance evidence.
In addition to Maggiacomo’s charges, Carnevale has been cited for multiple motor vehicle violations, including operating without a license, driving without insurance, and several driving infractions. He is also facing a misdemeanor charge of Reckless Driving.
