Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of 70-Year-Old in Festus
FESTUS, MO — Kenneth Ray Williams, 70, died following a motorcycle accident on Hwy. 67 north of Meyer Road at approximately 10:55 a.m. on August 26.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 59-year-old man from St. Louis driving a 2020 Toyota Tacoma exited a private drive onto southbound Hwy. 67. He attempted to use the crossover to enter the northbound lanes but slowed for another approaching vehicle. Williams, riding a southbound 2005 Honda Shadow Aero, applied the brakes and skidded into the front of the Toyota.
Williams was ejected from the motorcycle and was transported by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District personnel to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Hospital staff pronounced him dead at 7:02 p.m. the same day.
Authorities confirmed that the St. Louis driver was wearing a seat belt, while Williams was equipped with a Missouri Department of Transportation-approved safety helmet. The motorcycle sustained extensive damage, and the Toyota suffered moderate damage.
The incident remains under investigation. Lane closures were in effect during the emergency response.
