PALM CITY, Fla. —
A motorcycle-SUV collision in Palm City on Saturday night left a 56-year-old man seriously injured, according to authorities.
The crash occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Martin Highway and 84th Avenue. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the motorcyclist, a resident of Okeechobee, was treated by paramedics on scene before being airlifted to a local hospital.
The driver of the BMW SUV, a 58-year-old woman from Palm City, was unharmed. At the time of the incident, both eastbound and westbound lanes of Martin Highway were closed for several hours as Martin County Fire Rescue managed the scene and FHP conducted their investigation.
Fire Rescue units from Rescue 211, Engine 21, Ladder 23, Battalion 2, and EMS 4 responded to the scene. The road was reopened at 11:01 p.m. on Saturday. The investigation remains ongoing.
