Former Washington County Deputy Faces Manslaughter Charges in Motorcycle Crash.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah — A former Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been charged with manslaughter following a fatal motorcycle crash on Old Highway 91 last year.

Silafia Clyde Brown, 49, was charged with second-degree felony manslaughter on Thursday, nearly eight months after the incident.

On November 17, 2022, Brown was responding to a rollover crash when his patrol vehicle collided with motorcyclist Daniel Jack Monfroe, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Brown was transported to a hospital following the crash and has since been released.

According to the sheriff’s office, Brown is no longer employed with the department.
