Georgia Motorcyclist Injured in Crash While Attempting to Cross Raising Drawbridge in Daytona Beach.

DAYTONA BEACH, FL — A motorcycle crash briefly halted traffic on a drawbridge Saturday morning, causing damage to infrastructure but no serious injuries.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. when a motorcyclist disregarded traffic signals as the drawbridge was preparing to rise. The motorcyclist collided with a lowered stop arm, resulting in a fall from the motorcycle, which was also towing a trailer.

The trailer remained suspended over the water after the motorcycle toppled over the gap at the bridge’s peak. Crews were dispatched to retrieve the vehicle, which was hanging by its trailer hitch.

Authorities reported no injuries to the motorcyclist, who is from Georgia, but issued a citation for careless driving. The crash also caused damage to one of the drawbridge’s traffic arms.

Emergency responders cleared the scene, and lane closures were in effect during the recovery operation. The investigation remains ongoing.
