LONDONDERRY, Vt. – On June 29, 2023, a motorcycle accident occurred on Middletown Road, involving one vehicle and leaving the rider with serious injuries.
According to authorities, Cole Williams of Londonderry was injured when a passerby called 911 at approximately 4:00 p.m. Londonderry Volunteer Rescue Squad (LVRS) and Londonderry Technical Rescue arrived on scene within 10 minutes, assisted by Londonderry Fire. Williams sustained multiple life-threatening injuries and was stabilized by LVRS personnel before being transported to Springfield Hospital for evaluation. Later that evening, he was transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock.
After a year of recovery, Williams and his mother, Brandi Douglass, met with LVRS team members to express their gratitude for the care he received. The meeting took place recently, where they presented roses to first responders involved in the rescue: Pete Cobb, Judy Cobb, David Nunnikhoven, Bruno Licata, Gordon Searles, Donnie Ameden, and Jonathan Bigelow.
LVRS encourages community involvement and is seeking volunteers. Training will be provided for roles including driver, and certification courses are available for VEFR, EMR, EMT, and AEMT. Donations are also accepted to support medical supplies and training materials.
