EAST HAMPTON — A fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a dump truck occurred Thursday afternoon, temporarily closing state Route 16.
Jaime Brouwer, 49, of Jewett City, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to East Hampton Police. Another motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital via Life Star helicopter, but their condition remains unknown.
Emergency responders from East Hampton and Colchester arrived at the crash site at 4:21 p.m. near Gulf Road. Two Life Star medical helicopters were dispatched for medical aid.
The East Hampton Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation into the incident, authorities said. Further details are pending as the investigation continues.
