Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Wadsworth Crash
WADSWORTH, IL — A motorcyclist suffered critical injuries following a collision with a vehicle on Route 173 Friday afternoon.
Authorities responded at 1:01 p.m. to a crash involving a motorcycle and a Nissan Rogue east of Route 41. Upon arrival, deputies found the motorcyclist, a 68-year-old Wadsworth man, with severe injuries. Witnesses reported that Good Samaritans applied a belt as a tourniquet to his severed leg before emergency crews arrived.
According to preliminary reports, the Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound when the Nissan, driven by a 38-year-old woman from Muskego, Wisconsin, turned left into the Van Patton Woods Forest Preserve, directly into the motorcycle’s path. The impact caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the vehicle.
The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The Nissan driver was uninjured and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The incident is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team. Lane closures were reported in the area during the response.
