KALIHI, OAHU (Local News Wire) – A motorcyclist collided with a pedestrian in a crosswalk early Saturday morning and fled the scene.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:50 a.m. on Nimitz Highway near the Sand Island Access Road intersection.
Authorities say the motorcycle was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when it struck a 71-year-old woman in a marked crosswalk.
The rider left without providing assistance or information. The victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
Investigators indicated that speed was a likely contributing factor in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
