Hope Man Injured in Motorcycle Crash Following Police Pursuit
CASS COUNTY, N.D. (Local News Wire) – A 38-year-old man from Hope sustained serious injuries after rolling his motorcycle during a police pursuit on August 11 at about 8:28 p.m.
According to the North Dakota State Patrol, the incident began when officers attempted to stop a 2002 Yamaha motorcycle for speeding on Interstate 94. The rider fled westbound, taking exit 343, and continued north on Cass County Road 11 through Mapleton before heading into rural Cass County.
In the 16000 block of 33rd Street Southeast, the driver lost control and rolled into the south ditch, resulting in him being thrown from the motorcycle. He was transported via Sanford AirMed to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. His condition is currently unknown, and he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. DUI charges are pending against him.
Emergency response included assistance from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Casselton Fire Department, and Casselton Ambulance. An investigation is ongoing.
