Howland Driver Charged in Fatal Motorcycle Crash.

HOWLAND TOWNSHIP, OH – A 30-year-old man has been charged following a fatal motorcycle crash on July 14 at Route 46 and North River Road.

Steven Mazzola II faces charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular manslaughter, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Authorities reported that Mazzola was driving an SUV that turned in front of a Harley-Davidson, leading to the collision.

Jeremiah Giese, 49, of Niles, was seriously injured in the crash and later died in hospice care on Saturday. Giese was thrown from his motorcycle during the incident. Mazzola reportedly suffered no injuries.

The charges against Mazzola are both misdemeanors and he is currently the subject of a warrant. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday in Warren Municipal Court. No further details about the investigation have been released, and lane closures related to the incident have since been cleared.
