BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A 20-year-old motorcyclist from Meridian died following a three-vehicle crash on I-84 Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred on Aug. 2, 2026, at approximately 1 p.m. on I-84 near milepost 48, close to the Five Mile overpass. According to Idaho State Police, the motorcyclist, riding a 2026 Kawasaki ZX636, rear-ended a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica driven by a 60-year-old woman from Meridian. The impact caused the motorcycle to be struck by a 2015 Ford F-150 driven by a 61-year-old man from Boise.
The rider sustained serious injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
ISP confirmed the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, while the occupants of the Pacifica and the driver of the F-150 were wearing seat belts.
Eastbound lanes were closed for approximately 90 minutes to facilitate emergency response efforts. The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
