Zephyrhills, Fla. – A motorcyclist died and several others were injured following a multi-vehicle crash Saturday at 7:27 p.m. on Chancey Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Authorities reported that Mynor Milian-Morales, 29, was driving westbound in a Toyota truck when he attempted to pass a Chevrolet truck in a no-passing zone, nearly colliding head-on with an oncoming Subaru SUV. His vehicle struck the Subaru, which spun into the westbound lane, colliding with the Chevrolet truck and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling behind it. A fifth vehicle, a Honda motorcycle, lost control while trying to avoid the incident.
The Harley-Davidson rider, a 51-year-old male from Zephyrhills, was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Milian-Morales sustained minor injuries.
FHP stated that Milian-Morales, an undocumented immigrant, registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.106 and was driving without a valid license at the time of the crash. He has been charged with DUI manslaughter and related offenses. Milian-Morales is currently in custody at the Pasco County Jail.
The Subaru’s driver, a 62-year-old male from Bell, Florida, suffered serious injuries. A 62-year-old female passenger in the Subaru was unharmed. The 55-year-old female driver of the Chevrolet truck and the 27-year-old male riding the Honda motorcycle both reported minor injuries.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
