NORTH HERO, Vt. — A judge approved a request to search the cellphone of Ellen Willson, linked to a fatal crash that killed 20-year-old Hunter Rounds on June 18.
Authorities said Willson’s truck crossed the center line on Route 2, colliding with Rounds and his father. Rounds was pronounced dead at the scene, while his father sustained serious injuries.
According to court documents, Willson’s phone was seized by police immediately after the incident. Willson reportedly asked to access the device for a phone number, but later acknowledged deleting a message, claiming it was unrelated to the crash.
Willson is not currently detained but is under court orders prohibiting her from driving.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with further developments expected as authorities examine the retrieved data from her cellphone.
