Kansas Man Dies in Motorcycle Collision with Semi-Truck.

SHERIDAN COUNTY — A motorcycle accident claimed one life on U.S. 24 near Hoxie around 10 a.m. Friday.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2014 Kenworth semi, driven by 52-year-old Luke D. Smith of McDonald, was traveling eastbound when he attempted a left turn into a parking lot. The semi turned in front of a westbound 2026 Kawasaki Sport motorcycle operated by 70-year-old Micael Mast Roe of Hoxie, resulting in a collision.

Roe was pronounced dead at the scene and was later transported to Mickey Leopold Funeral Home. Smith reported no injuries. KHP confirmed that Roe was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

The crash led to temporary lane closures on U.S. 24 in both directions, specifically from County Road 20W to County Road 50W, about five miles west of Hoxie. Authorities are conducting an investigation into the accident.
