LEAVENWORTH COUNTY — A motorcycle accident claimed one life and resulted in injuries Monday afternoon in Leavenworth County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that Trevor Duane White, 22, of Leavenworth, was riding a 2024 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on U.S. 73 around 2:41 p.m. when he collided with a northbound 2009 Mercedes C-Class driven by 89-year-old George Steger, also of Leavenworth, who was turning west onto Fairlane Street.
White was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was transported to Forensic Medical. A passenger in the Mercedes, identified as 73-year-old Karen Ferengel, was taken to Providence Hospital with unspecified injuries. Steger reported no injuries. The KHP confirmed that White was not wearing a helmet, while both occupants of the Mercedes were properly restrained.
Authorities are investigating the accident. U.S. 73 experienced lane closures during the response and investigation.
