CHARITON COUNTY, Mo. — A motorcycle accident on Highway 24 claimed one life and left another seriously injured Saturday night.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 11:20 p.m. approximately three miles east of Keytesville, near the Chariton River bridge. A 47-year-old man from Brookfield was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he lost control, leading to the vehicle running off the roadway.
The passenger, a 43-year-old woman from Keytesville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was transported by the Chariton County Coroner to Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. The driver was critically injured and taken by MU1 to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that an investigation into the accident is ongoing. No further details regarding potential causes or contributing factors have been released at this time. Lane closures were briefly in effect during the emergency response.
