LACONIA, NH — State Rep. Charlie St. Clair, a prominent figure in Laconia Motorcycle Week, died on August 22 following a motorcycle accident in Ohio earlier this month.
St. Clair, 63, reportedly suffered catastrophic injuries from a crash on August 4 while en route to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. According to the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association, the accident was caused by a tire issue, leading to heart failure despite medical efforts.
He was known for his 35-year tenure as executive director of Laconia Motorcycle Week and served on the city’s Planning Board. St. Clair was a lifelong motorcyclist, frequently riding his Harley-Davidson Heritage Softtail Classic cross-country for the event.
In addition to his role with the festival, St. Clair owned the Laconia Antique Center and was active in local community affairs. He served in the New Hampshire House from 2017 to 2020 and was a member of the House Transportation Committee.
Elected officials, including Laconia Mayor Mike Bordes and Governor Kelly Ayotte, expressed their condolences and shared tributes honoring St. Clair’s contributions to the community. A statement from his family thanked friends and community members for their support during this difficult time.
