Lafayette Drivers Urged to Exercise Caution Following Fatal Motorcycle Accident.

LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — A 27-year-old motorcyclist died on June 23 after colliding with an SUV at Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Galbert Road.

Andrew Bollinger, of Lafayette, was riding northbound when the SUV reportedly pulled out in front of him, leading to the crash. Authorities said Bollinger was thrown from his motorcycle and later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The driver of the SUV is expected to recover.

The Lafayette Police Department and emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, which resulted in temporary lane closures. An investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities have confirmed that the SUV driver was not under the influence of alcohol.

This incident marks the second deadly motorcycle crash in Lafayette in less than a week, with issues of visibility reported on Ambassador Caffery Parkway. Traffic safety officials urge drivers to be vigilant for motorcycles and other vulnerable road users.
