Lincoln Police Identify Deceased Motorcyclist in Crash.

Caleb Long, a 21-year-old motorcyclist, died following a crash with an SUV near 70th Street and Nebraska Parkway on Tuesday at approximately 6 p.m.

According to Lincoln Police, Long was thrown from his motorcycle during the collision. Lifesaving measures were performed at the scene before he was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Long was a student at Union College in Lincoln, prompting the institution to cancel several classes in response to the incident. Witnesses described the impact of the news as “shattering.”

“He had an openness and honesty in how he approached everything,” said Christina Burden-Page, Long’s major professor. “He was ready to laugh and ready to do the hard work.”

The college plans to hold a vigil for Long on campus at 6:30 p.m. on a date yet to be confirmed.

Authorities confirmed the investigation into the crash is ongoing, with no other injuries reported.
