LMPD: Second victim in Preston Highway collision dies
LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
A two-vehicle collision on Preston Highway resulted in two fatalities and one serious injury on Friday night.
Authorities were dispatched to the 10300 block of Preston Highway at 8 p.m. after reports of an accident involving multiple vehicles.
The investigation revealed a motorcyclist traveling north on Preston Highway struck a passenger vehicle that merged onto the road from Maple Spring Drive, causing a subsequent collision with a third vehicle.
The motorcyclist was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
Two drivers involved were transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
On Saturday, LMPD announced the driver who merged from Maple Spring Drive, an 80-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The third driver involved is expected to recover fully.
Preston Highway was reopened around midnight following the crash.
Police continue to investigate but do not anticipate any charges related to the incident.
