Local Man Dies in Motorcycle Accident on SR 28 Near Soap Lake.

SOAP LAKE — A 36-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash on State Route 28, approximately nine miles east of Soap Lake, Wednesday night.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Jesse A. Perez was riding eastbound near milepost 62 when he lost control of his 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and was ejected. The motorcycle continued forward before settling in the westbound ditch, while Perez came to rest in the eastbound lane.

Later, an eastbound vehicle struck Perez as he lay on the roadway. The driver, identified as 53-year-old Yuri I. Bondarchuk of Renton, and his 23-year-old passenger, Daniel T. Bondarchuk, were uninjured. Both were wearing seatbelts.

Perez was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities confirmed he was wearing a USDOT-compliant helmet. The Grant County Coroner’s Office has notified his next of kin.

The incident remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet established if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
