Local motorcyclist dies in collision with pickup truck near Idaho Falls.

IDAHO FALLS — A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup truck Thursday evening at 5:39 p.m.

According to Idaho State Police, the incident occurred at the intersection of South Yellowstone Highway and South 15th West. The motorcyclist, who has not been identified, died at the scene.

The rider was on a black 2014 Honda motorcycle, merging into the travel lane, when he collided with a white GMC pickup traveling southbound. The pickup was driven by a 61-year-old man from Shelley, accompanied by a 61-year-old woman, neither of whom were hospitalized.

Authorities reported that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, and both occupants of the pickup had their seat belts fastened.

The northbound lane of South Yellowstone Highway was closed for about three hours as emergency responders worked at the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
