One Killed in Louisiana Highway Crash Involving Freightliner Truck

A woman died after crossing the centerline and colliding with a Freightliner truck on Louisiana Highway 79 on May 6.

According to Louisiana State Police, the incident occurred around 7:50 a.m. as 55-year-old Cecilia Marston was traveling northbound. Preliminary reports indicate that Marston’s vehicle veered into oncoming traffic, striking the truck head-on.

Marston was severely injured and transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Freightliner was reportedly uninjured and also wearing a seatbelt.

Authorities do not believe impairment was a factor in the crash, but toxicology samples will be analyzed as part of the investigation. Officials confirmed that Marston was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police urge drivers to avoid impairment, fatigue, and distractions while driving.
