Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on U.S. 41 in Monroe County
A 30-year-old man died early Tuesday following a motorcycle accident on U.S. 41 in Monroe County at approximately 6:30 a.m.
The crash occurred near the intersection with Hill Road, about three miles west of Interstate 475, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s officials. The victim, identified as Matthew Anderson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities stated that a passerby reported the motorcycle, which was found in the southbound lane. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Anderson’s body near a woodline across from a set of railroad tracks.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Anderson was traveling northbound when he veered off the road, striking a root in the ditch. This collision ejected him from the motorcycle, causing it to flip several times.
Emergency response from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed no additional injuries were reported. The roadway remained open during the investigation, which is ongoing.
Further details on this incident will be provided as they become available.
