57-year-old Maine man dies in motorcycle crash after colliding with deer on Route 26 in Newry, authorities confirm.
NEWRY, Maine —
Rodney Goodrum of Upton was the victim of a motorcycle collision that occurred at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Sunday.
According to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, Goodrum was riding a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on Bear River Road when he struck a deer.
The impact caused Goodrum to be thrown from the motorcycle. He was subsequently airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities reported that Bear River Road remained closed for several hours as investigators examined the crash site.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no further details have been released.
