Man killed and child hospitalized following motorcycle accident in Madison County.

MADISON COUNTY, Ind. (WRTV) — A man is dead and a child hospitalized following a motorcycle crash in Madison County on Monday night.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident occurred just before 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 100 East and County Road 1300 North.

According to authorities, a 2016 Dodge Journey, operated by 46-year-old Ruth A. Paugh of Anderson, was traveling eastbound when it entered the intersection and failed to yield to a northbound Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle, driven by 33-year-old Matthew Scott Doud of Summitville.

Doud was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison County Coroner’s Office. A juvenile passenger on the motorcycle was transported to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis with significant injuries. No further details regarding the child’s condition have been released.

Paugh was not injured in the crash and remained on the scene, cooperating with investigators.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team is conducting the ongoing investigation into the incident.
