QUEENS, N.Y. (Local News Wire) – A man died following a scooter collision on the Grand Central Parkway on Thursday evening, authorities said.
The accident occurred at 6:36 p.m. near the Jackie Robinson Parkway exit. A woman driving the scooter collided with an SUV, ejecting both riders, according to police.
Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Footage from the scene shows a scooter engulfed in flames, with bystanders assisting an individual receiving aid. Multiple fire trucks and police units were on site.
