COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WWBT) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 in Colonial Heights on Tuesday evening.
Virginia State Police reported that a 1998 Honda motorcycle was traveling at high speed and attempted to pass a 2012 Ford F-150 on the shoulder near mile marker 54.
The motorcycle collided with the rear of the truck, resulting in the ejection of the motorcyclist, identified as 39-year-old Desmon Nichols, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the initial collision, the unoccupied motorcycle continued to travel and struck another vehicle.
The crash occurred shortly after 5:20 p.m., and no additional injuries were reported.
Authorities are investigating the incident. Lane closures were in effect during the response and investigation.
