Medford driver in pickup strikes motorcycle, resulting in the deaths of two Central Point riders.

A Medford driver has been charged with manslaughter following a fatal crash involving a motorcycle that claimed two lives Monday night, Oregon State Police (OSP) reported.

At 9:38 p.m. on May 11, OSP responded to a vehicle versus motorcycle collision on Highway 62, near milepost 3.

A westbound Dodge Ram pickup, driven by 35-year-old Kristin Michelle Cowan of Medford, struck the rear of a westbound Kawasaki Eliminator motorcycle, operated by 56-year-old John Daren Stribling of Central Point.

Stribling and his passenger, 44-year-old Bobbie Lynn Stribling-King, also from Central Point, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Cowan was reportedly uninjured in the incident.

OSP indicated that impairment is considered a primary cause of the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.

Cowan has been arrested and is being held at the Jackson County Jail on charges of DUII, reckless driving, and manslaughter.

The highway remained closed for approximately seven hours while authorities conducted their investigation.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
