Michigan family files lawsuit against driver and companies following fatal motorcycle-truck collision.

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed by the family of Alexander Ferrell, 20, alleging negligence in a motorcycle crash involving a commercial truck in Napoleon Township, Michigan.

The $50 million suit, filed by The Law Offices of Jason A. Waechter, names driver Robert J. Macias and California-based Mutual Trading Co., along with its subsidiary, Yamasho Inc. Authorities said the crash occurred on April 24, 2025, when Macias allegedly crossed the center line, striking Ferrell’s motorcycle. Ferrell succumbed to his injuries on June 17, 2025.

Witnesses reported that Macias fled the scene but was subsequently arrested. His blood alcohol level was confirmed to be over twice the legal limit of 0.08. Court records indicate Macias pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.

The lawsuit asserts that Mutual Trading and Yamasho failed to properly supervise Macias, despite his familial connection to a managerial position within the companies. The attorneys argue this conflict of interest contributed to unsafe driving conditions.

Macias’s sentencing is scheduled for October 16, according to court records. No comments have yet been received from Mutual Trading or Yamasho regarding the lawsuit. The investigation remains ongoing.
