MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — A Milledgeville motorcyclist died in a collision with a semi-truck on Highway 24 Thursday afternoon.
According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), the accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. A Freightliner driven by 46-year-old Dion Dent of Alabaster, Ala., was traveling north in the left lane when he attempted to turn right into a private drive.
In the right lane, 49-year-old Wildred Pounds was riding his Honda CBR 500 motorcycle. GSP reports that Dent did not see Pounds and the motorcycle collided with the right side of the Freightliner, resulting in both vehicles stopping in the private drive.
Pounds was pinned under the Freightliner and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident.
Charges will be considered upon the conclusion of the investigation.
