Mississippi Highway Patrol Reports Three Fatal Crashes During 2025 Labor Day Holiday Travel Period.

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) reported three fatalities and 43 injuries during the 2025 Labor Day Holiday Travel Period, which ended at midnight on Sept. 1.

The enforcement period lasted from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, resulting in over 5,000 citations statewide. Troopers arrested 92 individuals for impaired driving, issued 617 citations for seatbelt and child-restraint violations, and investigated 159 crashes.

Fatal Crashes Reported:

All three incidents are under investigation by MHP.

MHP noted a decrease in overall fatalities compared to 2024, when there were seven fatal crashes resulting in 15 deaths.

Authorities emphasized ongoing efforts to promote impaired driving prevention, seatbelt use, and safe travel across Mississippi highways.
